Allergy  Testing

Doctors Direct is  pleased to announce the addition of Allergy Skin Testing & Sublingual Allergy Drop Therapy. This service is available to adults and REPLACES traditional allergy shots in the form of drops given under the tongue. Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT) has proven to be effective for the treatment of many common environmental allergies, as well as allergy related conditions like:

  • Asthma and exercise induced wheezing
  • Eczema and urticaria (hives)
  • Post nasal drip syndrome
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Nasal allergies
  • Recurrent sinusitis
  • Allergic gastrointestinal problems
Other chronic allergy related conditions

If you are suffering from any of these conditions, you may be a candidate. By targeting the allergen itself with sub-lingual immunotherapy, we can potentially control your allergies and improve your quality of life. Our goal is to reduce or eliminate both your symptoms, as well as your chronic medications like antihistamines, steroid nasal sprays, and inhalers.

Doctors Direct LLC has adopted the Allergy WoRx program so that we can stop treating the symptoms of allergies and start targeting the allergens themselves.

What makes sublingual therapy (SLIT) different?

SLIT is a completely needle-free program, meaning NO NEEDLES are ever required to test or treat our patients. The treatment can be given in the convenience of your own home. It is safe, effective and long-lasting.

  • Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is considered a viable alternative to injections (allergy shots) and is endorsed by the World Health Organization.
  • Clinical trials have demonstrated that SLIT is an effective and safe treatment.
  • The effects of SLIT appear to be long-lasting with studies showing continued efficacy 4 to 5 years after discontinuing therapy.
  • SLIT appears to have less risk of systemic side effects and anaphylaxis.

  • SLIT is well tolerated and most side effects are mild to self-limiting.
  • SLIT is attractive to many patients because it is tolerable, safe, convenient, and for the most part is done at home.
  • SLIT is an attractive option for young children who were opposed to injections.
  • SLIT is the preferred method for patients who find it hard to stick to schedules or routines

Not long ago, the treatment of almost all allergy patients involved the use of needles for testing, as well as injections for immunotherapy. Modern European countries abandoned this practice long ago and have since adopted sublingual immunotherapy (drops under the tongue).  Sublingual immunotherapy drops are extremely easy to use and are shipped to your front door every 30 days.

Doctors Direct LLC provides the allergy testing to the patient.  If the patient has positive reactions to the antigen panel it is up to the patient to decide whether or not ot pursue immunotherapy.  Dr. Murphy will prescribe the treatment which is fullfilled by select pharmacy.  The pharmacy will contact the patient directly to initiate treatment delivery.  The allergy testing should cost no more than $80/ month to the patient.  The AllergywoRx testing costs the patient $215.28 at the time of the testing.  This can be submitted if the patient likes to their insurance using their superbill.  It is CPT Code 95004 with each unit cost at $2.99 x 72 units. It is important also to recognize it is preferred if the patient quits all antihistamines/ allergy medications/ supplements at least one week prior to scheduled testing  The test will take approximately 1/2 hour in the office.
